ready for the antifouling

epoxy bottom and boot top!

The under water hull has now been cleaned off back to the top layer of epoxy protection coating and a further to be sure double coat of international gell shield epoxy applied. The keels having been epoxy tarred are now given a few coats of Primacon to resist bleed thru of the epoxy onto the Antifoul.

After re masking the water line, four coats of white Trilux boot topping is applied

After re stepping the mast and having a look at the fore sails it was clear that they would not stand any sort of a blow so a board room ecision was made to invest in a headsail reefing/furling gear from Plastimo type 608s. We are hoping that a genoa supplied by a friend at the club will get us by for this season.....hope it fits the new spar!
The 608s was purchased from Seateach at a price that beat all other suppliers and was delivered within 24 hours of order...wow.

Now the mast is up time to try out the sails that came with the boat .....main OK but jibs a bit iffy....after a board meeting the decision is to purchase a head sail furling system and a new Genoa....no holiday this year then!

Out board motor doors refubished and back in place. The hard wood serves to fix the hinges and handy to on tie boat hooks etc

At last the mast re rigged and dressed and after a few tense moments and a lot of effort the boat now looks like a yacht!
Having the mast in a tabernacle is a great advantage and with planning we can raise /lower the mast with the two of us.....handy on the canals thru France!!

Internal work almost done, new sink and cooker combination saves alot of space ...ok no gimbals but with the fiddle rails tight on the kettle Tea on the move should be no problem! For the floor sole covering we have used "teak" vinyl planks from B&Q ..will see how it goes.Posted by Picasa
